Abstract:
PURPOSE: To identify a patient, a health manager dealing with the patient, etc., in executing better medical care by reading fingerprints using a fingerprint reader and making the fingerprints evincide with fingerprint information stored together with other information for identification of patient and health manager. CONSTITUTION: The device 10 for storing and identifying fingerprints consists of an optical fingerprint reader 20, a computer/interface unit 30, and a label printer 70. The computer/interface unit 30 is provided with a storage device. When a patient is admitted into a hospital, the fingerprints of the patient are scanned and electronically encoded. These data are combined with, the instance, data of the name of the patient, identification number, bed number, doctor in charge, and admission data, and this information is stored in the hospital's computer device. The fingerprints and other information for identification of a health manager are also stored in the computer device. When the patient is being dealt with or receives treatment, the patient places the finger on a hole of the optical fingerprint reader 20. The fingerprints of the patient are scanned, and electronic data are obtained.
