To provide an idling stop and start vehicle capable of preventing automatic stop of an engine in an unnecessary condition by appropriately determining propriety of automatic stop of the engine depending on a road condition, and thereby, reliably achieving the merit of automatic engine stop and preventing start delay caused by engine start.
On a road such as an express way where a vehicle can continuously travel, an adverse effect such as start delay caused by engine start is greater than the merit of idling stop and start. Thereby, when it is determined that the vehicle travels on a road where the vehicle can continuously travel in a step S6, an ISS inhibition lamp 34 is turned on in a step S8 to terminate the routine without executing a process relating to engine automatic stop in steps S10 to 20.
