The ignition coil 1 for the internal combustion engine is composed of a coil body A configured of a primary coil 1 and a secondary coil 2 and a core 3 penetrating the inside of the primary coil for the coil body A and forming an open magnetic circuit between the core 3 and the coil body A. The ignition coil for the internal combustion engine is composed of two core blocks 31 having fitting sections 3a for unifying the core , respectively. In the ignition coil 1 for the internal combustion engine, fixing projecting sections 3b for holding and fixing the coil body A from the outside in the case of the unification are mounted so as to vertically oppose the axial direction with respect to the two core blocks 31. In the ignition coil , holding projecting sections 11a holding the front ends 3c of the fitting sections 3a of each unified core block 31 are mounted inside the primary coil 1.
