Reduction of exhaust emission before activation of a catalyst and early stage activation of the catalyst can be efficiently done by acquiring temperature of the internal combustion engine when engine speed after beginning of start of the internal combustion engine reaches predetermined speed or higher, and selecting and executing either of advancing process (process advancing ignition timing before MBT: Minimum spark advance for Best Torque) or retarding process (process retarding ignition timing after MBT) according to acquired temperature in the ignition control system of the spark ignition type internal combustion engine.
