Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide an ignition device for an auxiliary chamber type gas engine which can obtain both assured ignition and extension of the life of an ignition plug, and is made in such construction that the stable discharge and ignition can be assuredly performed regardless of the gas magnitude of the electrode of the ignition plug so as to minimize the wastage of the side pole of the ignition plug by always applying energy for an appropriate discharge to the ignition plug.
CONSTITUTION: In the ignition device for an auxiliary chamber type gas engine, a signal for ignition timing from a pickup 19 and a period to a trigger are detected as a discharge period, primary voltage is controlled by this discharge period, and voltage is temporarily controlled so as to stable the discharge period of the ignition plug 13. Also, approximately 50 Kohm of resistance is interposed in the high pressure code 22 of the ignition plug 13 so that discharge energy and the number of multiple discharges are reduced, and a current value during a discharge period is lowered, thus the wastage of a side pole and the durability of the ignition plug 13 are improved.
