PURPOSE: To adjust and check ignition timing by a timing light of an induced voltage detection type by electrically insulating an ignition coil iron core from an internal combustion engine body and forming an induced voltage detector component on the iron core.
CONSTITUTION: In idling operation, a primary current is conducted intermittently through a primary coil 9 via a power supply cord connected to a power supply primary terminal and a high tension secondary voltage is induced on a secondary coil 11. The secondary coil 11 and an iron core 7 are coupled via a capacitor, and the iron core 7 is electrically insulated from a cylinder head 2 by means of an insulating connecting tube 21. Accordingly, the secondary voltage induced on the secondary coil 11 is detected through an induced voltage detection cord 31 to turn a timing light on and off in synchronism with the detected voltage. Thus, ignition timing can be adjusted and checked.
