Title:
IGNITION DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2017048701
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress wear of an electrode of an ignition plug in an ignition device that includes a plasma device for causing an air-fuel mixture to generate plasma discharge.SOLUTION: An ignition device 1 includes a plasma device 10, a first circuit 11, a second circuit 12 and a control section 13. The plasma device 10 causes an air-fuel mixture to generate plasma discharge before generation of arc discharge. The first circuit 11 causes an ignition plug 5 to start arc discharge. The second circuit 12 energizes a primary coil 2 in a direction opposite to the energizing direction caused by the first circuit 11 during the arc discharge to maintain energization of a secondary coil 3 in the same direction as that when the energization is started by the operation of the first circuit 11, so as to continue the arc discharge. The control section 13 controls operations of the first circuit 11, the second circuit 12 and the plasma device 10. Thus, when the air-fuel mixture is caused to generate the plasma discharge, an energy input period to the ignition plug 5 can be shortened and energy input amount can be reduced, compared to when the air-fuel mixture is not caused to generate the plasma discharge.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
