Abstract:
To make flame promptly propagate into a main chamber in ignition control after a top dead center.SOLUTION: An ignition system has a partition wall 34 and an ignition plug 40. The partition wall 34 separates a combustion chamber 30 of an engine into a main chamber 31 and an auxiliary chamber 38. The partition wall 34 is provided with one or a plurality of injection holes 35 which communicate from the main chamber 31 to the auxiliary chamber 38. The ignition system executes ignition control after a top dead center for igniting by the ignition plug 40 after a compression top dead center, when the engine is in a predetermined operation situation. In the ignition control after a top dead center, an ignition source as a flame kernel of a size capable of self-propagation is disposed in a region R near the injection hole, in the injection hole 35, or in the main chamber 31 within a twenty crank angle from ignition start timing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
