Abstract:
To promote warm-up of a catalyst while sufficiently securing combustion stability.
During catalyst warm-up, cylinder inner pressure P and a crank angle θ are obtained (step 110). Next, a heat generation rate dQ/dθ is determined based on the cylinder inner pressure P (step 112). The maximum value dQmax is then determined based on the heat generation rate dQ/dθ for one cycle (step 116). In a case where the maximum value dQmax is a prescribed value dQmaxthr or less, ignition timing SA is advanced (step 120). In a case where the maximum value dQmax is larger than the prescribed value dQmaxthr, the ignition timing SA is delayed (step 122).
