To provide an illumination solving method matching a demand for a camera and illumination in specific use by providing an illumination solving method relieving the problem concerning heat generation and power consumption and by controlling the optical output of an illumination device efficiently.
The illuminating device and method for illuminating a scene observed by the camera (1) includes: a first light emitting source (5) with a first lens (7), which is arranged so as to bring out illumination substantially in a first area of a predetermined size, in a first distance (D1) from the illuminating device (4); and a second light emitting source (6) with a second lens (8), which is arranged so as to bring out illumination substantially in a second area of a predetermined size in a second distance (D3) from the illuminating device (4). The output intensities of the first and second light emitting sources (5, 6) can be controlled independently.
