To provide an illumination device used for equipment such as a display device which has an illumination part capable of illuminating the surrounding of the equipment, and can radiate heat generated in the illumination part, and a display device equipped with the illumination device.

The display device is provided with a display unit having an image display face in front, a chassis 4 to support the display unit from the rear, and a plurality of LEDs 5a, 5a... which are driven according to an image displayed in the display unit, and constituted so as to radiate the heat generated in the display unit from the chassis 4. Since the plurality of LEDs 5a, 5a... are installed so that they can transmit heat to the chassis 4, the heat generated in the LEDs 5a, 5a... is diffused from the chassis in the air, and a new heat dissipation plate to radiate the heat from the LEDs 5a, 5a... is not required, and by suppressing an increase in the thickness of the display device, the heat generated in the LEDs 5a, 5a... can be radiated.
