Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable exact measurement and inspection of the side face of a spherical lump object as well by constituting a device in such a manner that respective small-sized lamps uniformly illuminate the scanning surface of said object and thoroughly illuminate the lower hemispherical part of the spherical lump object as well.

CONSTITUTION: A linear type sensor camera 2 is provided above a transport conveyor 1 so as to face downward and to cross a scanning line in the direction perpendicular to the transport path in order to inspect and measure the object 4 from above. The small-sized lamps 5 provided in many pieces are disposed radially around the center line of the transport path before and behind the scanning line 3 in-between. The respective small-sized lamps are so provided that the respective projection distances from the scanning plane of the object are approximately equal to each other at the time when the spherical lump object 4 passes the scanning line 3. The scanning plane of the camera is thereby illuminated to uniform brightness even if the surface of the spherical lump object is rugged; therefore, the exact surface condition; i.e., the degree of coloration, the size of injured points, etc., are inspectable.
