To provide an illumination cooling system for efficiently cooling a semiconductor laser used as an excitation light source, and to provide a refrigerator used for such an illumination cooling system.
The illumination cooling system includes a vessel 3 incorporating a semiconductor laser that is an excitation light source for emitting the exciting light, a wavelength conversion section 10 that absorbs at least a part of the exciting light emitted from the excitation light source to emit the light with different wavelengths, and fiber optics 8, 9 each of which is connected with the wavelength conversion section 10 at one end to guide the exciting light from the excitation light source to the wavelength conversion section 10. The vessel 3 is mounted at a chiller 2A within a refrigerator 1.
