Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination device capable of improving brightness with a suppressed flickering phenomenon of light emission by an LED element.SOLUTION: An illumination device 100 having the LED element includes: an LED group 250 configured by a plurality of LED elements 252 mutually connected in series; a main current supply circuit 104 for supplying, on receiving an AC voltage, a main current 2 pulsing synchronously with a periodic change of the AC voltage, to the LED group 250; and a bias current supply circuit 700 for supplying to the LED group 250 a bias current 4 to supplement the main current 2. The LED group 250 has each current flow of: a main LED current 21 having a cutoff period in synchronization with the periodic change of the AC voltage; a bias LED current 41 that flows at least during the cutoff period of the main LED current 21; and further, a light-emitting LED current 6 including the main LED current 21 and the bias LED current 41. The current value of the light-emitting LED current 6 during the cutoff period is determined dependent on the bias LED current 41.
