PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination device that suppresses an increase in size, can measure an amount of light of strobo light, and serves as a state display function or illumination function, and to provide an imaging device including the illumination device and an illumination method.SOLUTION: An illumination device is composed of: strobo light emitting means that radiates strobo light; reflection means that has a reflection face, and reflects the strobo light to be radiated from the strobo light emitting means by the reflection face; a light emitting diode 212 that radiates LED light; and light emitting diode driving means that drives the light emitting diode 212. In the composition, the reflection means has an opening part 216 in one part of the reflection face, and the light emitting diode 212 is arranged at a position where the strobo light is received by use of the opening part 216. The light emitting diode driving means is configured to switch over between causing the light emitting diode 212 to radiate the LED light and outputting an electric signal in accordance with an amount of light of the received strobo light.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
