Abstract:

To provide an illumination device capable of reducing visibility of speckle.

An illumination device 40 includes: an optical element 50 that can diffuse coherent light; and a plurality of coherent light sources 61a, 61b, 61c emitting coherent beams at the same wavelength. The optical element includes a plurality of incident regions 55a, 55b, 55c. The coherent beam from each coherent light source is incident to the corresponding incident region of the optical element. The coherent beams incident to the respective incident regions of the optical element and then diffused illuminate regions that at least partially overlapping each other.
