To prevent an image acquired in an internal memory of a hand-held image acquiring device from being carelessly deleted.
The image acquiring device includes an internal memory 64 for storing image data 74, a program code 70 or the like. The program code 70 stored in the memory 64 includes a page deletion module 94 for allowing a user to delete the image data 74 stored in the memory 64. When the module 94 is started by depressing a deletion button on the device by the user, a deletion checking prompt is provided to the user so as to inform the user how many pages or images are deleted and how many percents of the memory are released. When the user confirms the deletion, deleting operation is executed and an animation for informing the user that the deleting operation is non- reversible. For instance, the animation indicates that a deleted page or deleted page group is turned to burned ashes.
