To restore a region overwritten by a marker by deleting the marker during decoding, regarding a technology for encrypting and decrypting a part of printed matter or image by applying the marker indicating a position of the encrypted/encoded region, when encrypting or encoding the part of printed matter or image.
In an encryption apparatus, an encryption processing section 102 encrypts a part of or an entire image, to be encrypted, input from 101 and a marker generating section 103 generates a marker indicative of the encryption region. An image storage section 104 saves and stores a marker non-overwritten image, that is lost by being overwritten with the marker portion, A marker pasting section 105 pastes the marker to the encryption image and outputs the image from an output section 106. At a side of a decryption apparatus, when retrieving and decrypting the marker, the region overwritten with the marker is restored by inputting the marker non-overwritten image.
