The image capturing apparatus 100 comprises a body having a lens barrel 107, a user selecting biaxial device 110 mounted in the barrel 107 which can displace along the axis of a perpendicularly crossing direction and can move in a direction toward the barrel by depressing, a horizontal displacement sensor 303 which can generate an electronic signal relating to the horizontal displacement of the user selecting device 110, a vertical displacement sensor 305 which can generate an electronic signal relating to the vertical displacement of the user selecting device, and a depressing sensor 318 which can generate a select signal when the user selecting device is depressed.
