To shorten time required for printing in an apparatus to be used for a direct printing system which can print out an image on an information recording medium without using a personal computer.

An image photographing apparatus includes a control means for controlling respective means such that after temporarily storing image data to be transmitted to an image output apparatus in two storage means and transmitting printing control information to the image output apparatus, the image data specified by the printing control information are read out from an information recording medium and stored in one of the storage means, and after receiving image data acquisition control information corresponding to the transmitted printing control information from the image output apparatus, the image data stored in one storage means are transmitted through a communication means and the other image data specified by the printing control means are read out from the information recording medium and stored in the other storage means.
