Abstract:

To provide an image-forming apparatus detecting a home position of an image carrier stably without increasing the size of the image-forming apparatus.

An outermost surface thin film layer 3b of the image carrier has a comparatively thick film region 31 and a comparatively thin film region 32. The image carrier satisfies the relational expressions: 50 nm≤(d1-d2)≤950 nm and 20 nm≤d2<d1≤1,000 nm (wherein d1 (nm) is the thickness of the comparatively thick film region; d2 (nm) is that of the comparatively thin film region). The image-forming apparatus includes the image carrier 3 and a photosensor 20 and satisfies the relational expression: |R(d1)-R(d2)|≥0.5×{Rmax(d)-Rmin(d)} (wherein R(d) is a reflectance function showing a relationship between a reflectance R of the light from the photosensor on the outer peripheral surface of the image carrier and the thickness d (nm) of the outermost surface thin film layer of the image carrier).
