Abstract:

To provide a moving image encoding method and a moving image decoding method improved in the encoding efficiency of motion information.SOLUTION: The image encoding method comprises: a first step of selecting at least one motion reference block from among encoded pixel blocks having motion information; a second step of selecting, from among the motion reference blocks, at least one available block having mutually different motion information, the block being a pixel block having a candidate for motion information to be applied to a block to be encoded; a third step of selecting one selected block from the available blocks; a fourth step of generating a predicted image of the block to be encoded using the motion information of the selected block; a fifth step of encoding a prediction error between the predicted image and an original image; and a sixth step of encoding selection information for specifying the selected block with reference to a code table predetermined according to the number of available blocks.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 16
