Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To refer to a restored image stored in an image data buffer as a predicted image of a succeeding frame when decoded by an MPEG system.
SOLUTION: An image synthesis system for combining main image data compressed by an MPEG system and a sub-image data compressed by a system different from the MPEG system is provided with an MC processing part 124 for extending I, P and B pictures in each macro block after inverse quantization and inverse DCT processing of the main image data, a macro block storage part 133 for storing the macro block of the I picture for one frame and sub- image macro block generation parts 134 to 136 for converting the sub-image data into a macro block of the MPEG system, semitransparently combining the data of a macro block on a part overlapped with the sub-image and the data of a macro block stored in the storage part 133 and preparing the data of the semitransparently synthesized macro block as the macro block of the B picture to be extended by the MC processing part 124.
