Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce hardware and to reduce development cost, etc., when this image compression processor is realized by software.
SOLUTION: The image compression processor is provided with a run length processor 171 having a run count processing means to calculate run length with the same number as the number of BITs to process a plurality of BIT patterns in parallel and to calculate the run length to be carried over to the next pattern and an accumulative addition processing part to accumulatively add the run length to be carried over to the next pattern, a predictive coding processor 172 to perform predictive coding to a parameter with high correlation before and after a fixed length code, to perform no predictive coding to a quantized code part of a fixed length code and to separate both of them, a repetition processor 173 to calculate the number of repetitions from the run length and an encoding processor 174 to encode the run length and the number of repetitions.
