Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce the cost of an electronic computer and to generate an image at an interactive speed by testing previously the regular reflection property of a basic surface and separating the basic surface having the regular reflection of an important level from other surfaces, thereby grouping these surfaces.
CONSTITUTION: A processor 15 generates a two-dimensional image from the data showing a three-dimensional space based on the control data given from a memory device 16 and supplies the image to a frame buffer 19 from the device 16. A three-dimensional subject is defined by plural polygons and formed by connecting together the polygons having the coincident apexes along the common edges of polygons. Then the polygon having the regular reflection of an important level is separated from other polygons having no regular reflection of an important level based on the result of the test given previously to the regular reflection property of the basic surface of a polygon. These separated polygons are grouped and processed by the 1st (expensive) algorithm, and other polygons are processed by the 2nd (inexpensive) algorithm respectively.
