PURPOSE: To obtain the image data registration device which reduces the burden on an operator and is good in operation efficiency by adding a scene change detection device-which detects changes of a scene to the image data registration device and automatically monitoring an image reproducing device and the scene changes.

CONSTITUTION: This image data registration device is provided with the image reproducing device 1 which reproduces an image registered in a data base, the scene change detection device 12 which detects the changes of the scene of the image reproduced by the image producing device 1, and an image reproducing device control unit 3 which controls the image reproducing device 1. Further, this device is provided with an attribute input device 4 which inputs the attributes of the image as retrieval key words of the data base such as the name of a subject and image pickup conditions by scenes of reproduced images. Furthermore, the device is provided with an image data storage device 6 which stores the image data and image attribute data and a data registration device 5 which registers the image data and image attribute data in the image data storage device 6. The scene change detection device 12 consists of an image delay unit, a subtracter, a luminance mean value calculator, and a comparator.
