Abstract:
PURPOSE:To shorten retrieving time and to make retrieval efficient by contracting data displayed so as to be divided into several pictures if the size or decomposing density of an input original exceeds the display function of a display device into data displayed on one picture and displaying the contracted data as the one for visual retrieval of image data. CONSTITUTION:Data formed by a retrieving data forming part 4 and contracted for retrieval are thinned so that the decomposing density is 200dpi at the A4 size of an input original. In case the size of an input original is A2 and the decomposing density is 200dpi, for instance, the data are thinned every other line in both the vertical and horizontal directions, so that the picture elements are reduced to 1/4 all the picture elements, the data volume is equivalent to A4 size at 200dpi and the contracted data can be displayed on one picture. In case the size is A4 and the decomposing density is 400dpi, data can be displayed on one picture by similarly thinning data every other line in both the vertical and horizontal directions.
