To resolve the problem in file transfer using PTP wherein a command of "getpartialobject" is limited in a direction from a host to a slave, and a transfer request for partial image data cannot be issued from the slave side.
A transfer request for an image file stored in a second apparatus is issued from a first apparatus which is a client to the second apparatus which is a server (S61). In response to the transfer request, the second apparatus issues an object request to the first apparatus, and in response to the object request, the first apparatus sends a file ID and data size by script to the second apparatus (S63). In response to the script, the second apparatus sends partial image data corresponding to the file ID and data size to the first apparatus (S54).
