Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that much time is required for arithmetic decoding processing for switching a context according to peripheral decoding information.SOLUTION: In an image decoding device for dividing a different coefficient as a conversion coefficient of a differential signal between a decoding target image and a prediction image into plural partial areas and decoding the differential coefficient on a partial area basis, every differential coefficient in a decoding target partial area, a significant coefficient information decoding controller 1006 and an arithmetic decoder 1001 decodes significant differential coefficient information representing that a differential coefficient value is not zero and thus is significant. With respect to each pixel in the decoding target partial area, a differential coefficient value decoding controller 1007 and the arithmetic decoder 1001 decodes the differential coefficient value when the significant different coefficient information is significant. On the basis of information representing the significance of the differential coefficient in the decoded partial area, the significant coefficient information decoding controller 1006 determines a context for decoding the significant differential coefficient information in the decoding target partial area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
