The display element 220b includes a light transmission layer 223b having a second principal surface that includes second relief structures on at least a part thereof, and an alignment of the second relief structures, when being observed from a second direction under the lighting condition, displays a second image as an image of a structural color. The area of a region on the second principal surface where the second relief structures are provided is smaller than that of a region on the first principal surface where the first relief structures are provided.
