To provide an image display device, an image display method, and a program which can quickly arrive at a desired image, and moreover can efficiently conduct image processing even in the case of selecting the image by changing one after another the image, in the image display processing which displays a low resolution image and then displays a high resolution image.

A printer is equipped with a monitor having a screen 18. When a switch which preview-displays a printing image is pressed, a layout image LP, a low resolution image S, and a high resolution image P of the image which is instructed for displaying are successively displayed on the screen 18. When the switch is continuously operated, the pressing of the switch is detected at each setting time, and at each time of the detection of the pressing of the switch, the image to be a display processing object is shifted to the next image. The setting time is set to a value for interrupting the display processing of the low resolution image or the high resolution image.
