To provide an image display device capable of widely monitoring a monitor object and an image around it.
An image is acquired from a wide angle camera (S110), and a display mode is input from a touch panel (S115). A wide angle camera image is displayed on the display device as it is in the case of the display mode other than a narrow-angle enlargement display mode (S160), and an enlargement area is input from the touch panel in the case of a narrow-angle enlargement display mode (S125). A narrow-angle enlarged display screen to be displayed together with an enlarged image is generated by conversion for reduction of an area other than the enlargement area (S130). A warning object is detected by image processing (S135), and an area wherein the warning object exists is enlarged (S145) in the case that the warning object is found (S140:Yes), and a warning sound is output from a speaker (S155). Then the narrow-angle enlarged image and an image resulting from enlarging the area of the warning object are generated as a new image (S150), and the new image is displayed on the display device (S160).
