The image display device 1 provided with an image display part 2 having a picture display part 9 constituted of arraying many pixels on a substrate 4 and allowed to be driven by a driving circuit 3 is also provided with a temperature controller 15 having many thermoelectric elements 20 arrayed in a prescribed state, a heat absorption surface 15a for absorbing heat from the outside and a heat radiation surface 15b for radiating heat absorbed from the heat absorption surface 15a and arranged so as to be brought into contact with the whole or a part of the opposite side of the display surface 9a of the picture display part 9 in order to control the temperature of the picture display part 2 and a control circuit 16 for controlling the operation of the temperature controller 15.
