To realize an image display system capable of performing an accurate pointing display with a few equipment.
This image display device is provided with a liquid crystal projector 2 which projects an original image to a screen 1 and a pointing device 3 which points a desired part in a projected image. Infrared rays outputted from the device 3 are received by a photo-diode 23 of the liquid crystal projector 2, and acoustic waves are received by two ultrasonic microphones 24a and 24b, and a distance from each ultrasonic microphone 24a and 24b to a device 3 on the screen 1 is calculated based on a time difference since the infrared rays are received until the ultrasonic waves are received, and coordinates in the original image corresponding to the position of the device 3 on the screen 1 are calculated based on the calculated distance, and a pointer pointing the coordinates is projected to the screen 1 with the original image.
