Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device and an image display unit capable of displaying an image having no difference of brightness on two surfaces differently placed on the optical axis.SOLUTION: An image display device 100 includes: a light emission part 10 having a first polarizing light having a polarization component L1 of a first direction and a second polarizing light having a polarizing component L2 of a second direction orthogonal to the first direction; and a projection lens 20 including a birefringent lens 20b and incident with the first polarizing light and the second polarizing light. The projection lens focuses the first polarizing light emitted from the light emission part on a first image surface 30 so as to generate a first image G1a, and focuses the second polarizing light emitted from the light emission part on a second image surface 40 at the position differently placed from the first image surface on the optical axis of the projection lens so as to generate a second image G2a.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
