To provide a new image display device capable of preventing an amount of luminescence from becoming uneven depending on the number of light emitting pixels.
The image display device utilizing a spontaneous light emitting type EL (electro luminescence) element comprises a display panel, a driver used for driving the display panel, and a display control section for controlling the driver. The display control section detects an amount of luminescence from an electric current flowing in the EL element of each pixel and changes the white gradation level of the data voltage supplied to each EL element, thereby controlling the amount of luminescence. By this configuration, the problem of uneven screen display due to the difference in the amount of luminescence of the screen can be solved.
