To provide an image display device capable of accurately emitting a laser beam to a pupil even if relative positions of an imaging area and an optical axis are deviated.

The image display device includes: a light source for emitting modulated light; a scanner for two-dimensionally scanning the modulated light emitted from the light source; control means for controlling the light source and the scanner; an eyepiece optical system for projecting the modulated light scanned by the scanner onto an eye; imaging means provided so as to image at least an image around a pupil; pupil position specifying means for specifying a pupil position based on the image around the pupil imaged by the imaging means; optical axis position specifying means for specifying an optical axis position being a position of the optical axis of the modulated light based on the image around the pupil; and correction means for moving the eyepiece optical system so as to match the optical axis position of the modulated light with the pupil position based on relative positions of the pupil position specified by the pupil position specifying means and the optical axis position specified by the optical axis position specifying means.
