To allow observation of a stereoscopic image and a normal image on an image display device capable of displaying both a stereoscopic image comprising two images: an image for right eye and an image for left eye, and a normal image, with polarizing glasses worn on.
A polarization direction of display light in a first monitor 41 for displaying an image for right eye is 90°, and a polarization direction of display light in a second monitor 42 for displaying an image for left eye is 0°: the two directions are deviated by 90° from each other. A circular polarization filter 50 that converts a polarization direction of display light in a third monitor 43 for displaying a normal image into circular polarized light is attached in front of an image display surface 43a of the third monitor 43.
