Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the small-sized, lightweight light image display device with high optical performance by using a nontelecentric optical system or an eccentric optical system such as a reflection type LCD.
SOLUTION: Of the image display device having an image display element and an ocular optical system which guides an image formed by the image display element so that the image can be observed as a virtual image without forming an intermediate image at the eyeball position of an observer, the ocular optical system consists of the eccentric optical system 10 having at least one eccentric reverse reflecting surface, the image display element consists of a reflection type image display element 8 which displays an image with the reflected light of illumination light, and a lighting means 12 which emits the illumination light 13 is arranged off the display optical path from the reflection type image display element 8 to the observation eyeball position 1.
