Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide: an optical film which is suppressed in occurrence of alignment defect and iridescent unevenness; a polarizing plate which uses this optical film; and an image display device. An optical film of the present invention comprises a supporting body and an optically anisotropic layer that is provided on the supporting body. The optically anisotropic layer is a patterned optically anisotropic layer wherein two or more different regions having optical characteristics are patterned. The supporting body contains a polyethylene terephthalate resin, and has an in-plate retardation (Re) of 3,000-30,000 nm and a ratio of the in-plate retardation (Re) to the thickness-direction retardation (Rth), namely (Re)/(Rth) of 0.2-1.5.
