Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reduce a deterioration in picture quality and obtain an excellent image which provides a feeling of high resolution by making pixels visually discontinuous in dots. CONSTITUTION:The image display device equipped with an image display unit 1 such as a liquid crystal display panel where many dot-shaped display segments are arrayed in two dimensions is equipped with an optical low pass filter 2 consisting of a phase grating on the display path of the image display part of the image display unit 1 and the cutoff frequency of the optical low-pass filter 2 is set between a sampling frequency (1/PH) and Nyquist frequency determined by the intervals of the pixels of the image display unit. When the image display unit is a color image display unit, The cutoff frequency of the optical low-pass filter 2 is set between the Nyquist frequency and the sampling frequency (1/PH) determined by the interval of color pixels of the same color of the color filter of the color image display unit.
