Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the positioning precision of an optical member fixed to a prism is prescribed by the bending precision of sheet metal and the sticking precision of the sheet metal and the number of components for the fixation is large.
SOLUTION: In an image display optical system using a prism type optical element 30 for at least one of a color separation system separating the light from a light source 1 into a plurality of color light beams and a color composition system which puts together and projects a plurality of color light beams modulated by an image display element, holding parts 35 and 36 for holding other optical members 27 and 28 different from the prism type optical element are formed integrally with support members 39 and 40 which support the prism type optical element.
