To provide an image display system and a receiver for allowing one operation device to operate an image output device and an image display device.

The image display system 1 provided with an image output device 2 for outputting image information and an image display device 3 for displaying images in accordance with the image information is equipped with an operation device 4 for transmitting an operation signal in accordance with input operation by radio and performing remote control of the image output device 2 and the image display device 3, and a receiver 5 for receiving the operation signal to output a signal related to the operation signal to the image output device 2. The receiver 5 is provided with an output device signal generating means 52 for generating an output device signal which can be recognized by the image output device 2 on the basis of the operation signal. Either the receiver 5 or the image output device 2 is provided with a display device signal generating means 26 for generating a display device signal which can be recognized by the image display device 3 on the basis of the operation signal, whereas the image output device 2 includes an output means 27 for outputting the display device signal to the image display device 3.
