Abstract:
To reduce power consumption and processing time required for encoding process while preventing deterioration of image quality by the encoding process of a moving image.
A compression control unit can execute, based on the spatial frequency of an image to be encoded, a prediction method selection process to select, as a prediction method to be used for an encoding process, one of forward prediction, backward prediction and bi-directional prediction, and determines, based on image movement information indicating a motion amount of the image to be encoded, whether to execute the prediction method selection process.
