Abstract:
To reduce block distortions so as not to occur unnecessary blurring.
An image encoding apparatus has a processor, which selectively filters the boundary between two adjacent blocks in an image. The processor acquires a boundary strength corresponding to the boundary, and strengthens the selective filtering as the boundary strength increases. The boundary strength in the case that at least one of the two blocks is intra encoded is more increased than that of other cases.
