Abstract:
To generate encoded data that is suitable for an image in which compression ratios in both of optically horizontal and vertical directions are different.SOLUTION: An image encoding device comprises: a DWT transformation unit that performs wavelet transformation of image data and generates a plurality of pieces of sub-band data; a determination unit that determines a quantization parameter for transformation coefficients in a plurality of sub-bands obtained by the DWT transformation unit; and an encoding unit that performs quantizing and encoding of the transformation coefficients in the sub-band data obtained by the DWT transformation unit, following the quantization parameter determined by the determination unit. Here, the determination unit determines such that a quantization parameter which is applied to a LH sub-band having the same decomposition level is smaller than a quantization parameter which is applied to a HL sub-band in a case where for example a compression ratio between an optically horizontal and vertical directions indicates a compression ratio in which an image in a horizontal direction is α (α<1) times relative to a vertical direction in the image obtained by an imaging unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
