Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a transformation process in a comparison process of an event obtained from a quantizing transformation coefficient with a reference event included in a variable length code table, thereby raising possibility of executing good variable length encoding of encoding efficiency.
SOLUTION: There are provided: a discrete cosine transformer (DCT) 204 for performing a DCT process for digital image data; and a quantizing device (Q) 205 for performing a quantizing process for an output of the discrete cosine transformer 204 to produce a quantizing transformation coefficient. The quantizing transformation coefficient is subjected to variable length encoding processing with reference to a variable length code table indicating an allocation of a variable length code.
