PURPOSE: To make it possible to arrange luminescent parts with uniform luminance at high density by arranging surface conductive electron discharging devices so as to make their electron discharging parts in parallel each other in multilines and altering the shapes of the electron discharging parts according to the efficiency of phosphors in relative to the discharging parts.
CONSTITUTION: The relation of the width W of a neck part of a thin film 3 where an electron discharging part 5 is formed and current value Ie has a linear relation and therefore phosphors with different efficiency can emit luminescence with the same luminance by adjusting the width W. The devices whose width in relative to red-, green-, and blue-emitting phosphors is determined to have the same luminance are so arranged in order in three lines where one line contains 6 devices so as not to overlap their luminescent parts 7 of the devices and electron discharging parts 5 are so arranged to be parallel each other as to decrease circuit resistances of electrodes 1, 2. When electrons are discharged from them simultaneously and the phosphors emit luminescence, each color can have uniform luminance and highly dense image with narrow gap between the luminescent parts 7 can be obtained.
