Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve productivity in continuously inserting a plurality of sheets of insertion paper between a preceding sheet on which an image is formed and a subsequent sheet.SOLUTION: A sheet insertion device 50 inserts a plurality of sheets of insertion paper between a preceding sheet and a subsequent sheet ejected from an image forming apparatus 20 through a primary paper feed conveyance which conveys the insertion papers to a registration part separately sheet by sheet and a secondary paper feed conveyance which conveys the insertion papers from the registration part to a junction position Y. A first inter-sheet time is calculated when the primary paper feed conveyance of the final sheet of insertion paper is completed a second inter-sheet time is calculated including a conveyance margin of the final sheet of insertion paper in the primary paper feed conveyance when the presence of the final sheet of insertion paper is detected, a difference is calculated between the first inter-sheet time and a time required from the start of image formation on the preceding sheet to the completion of the primary paper feed conveyance of the final sheet of insertion paper, a third inter-sheet time is calculated by subtracting the calculated difference from the second inter-sheet time, and image formation on the subsequent sheet is started when the third inter-sheet time elapses from the start of image formation on the preceding sheet.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
