Abstract:
CONSTITUTION: An image forming apparatus 10 comprises: a CPU 100; an image forming part 30; and a sheet detection part 80. The image forming part 30 includes a first sheet conveyance path L1 and forms images on a sheet conveyed through the first sheet conveyance path L1. The sheet detection part 80 includes a line sensor 82 and a reference member 84. The line sensor 82 and reference member 84 are arranged at positions opposite to each other across the first sheet conveyance path L1. A reference pattern including first areas 840 in dark color and second areas 842 in bright color is formed on the front face of the reference member 84. The CPU 100 compares a reference image including the entirety of the reference pattern with an image for detection including part of the reference pattern and part of the sheet conveyed through the first sheet conveyance path L1 to detect the positions of the ends in the width direction of the sheet.EFFECT: The accuracy in detecting the positions of the ends in the width direction of a sheet can be improved.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
